The Eisteddfod at ​Primary School Aliwal-Noord is held annually at the end of August. It is the absolute highlight on our school’s cultural calendar. Each year, approximately 30 to 35 schools from near and far participate in the eisteddfod, with between 3,000 and 4,000 entries received! 

Participants can enter in Music, Singing, Drama, and Dance, and during the eisteddfod week, they present their items to expert judges. This week is not only a celebration of individual talent and stage performances, but also a huge showcase for all the other arts categories in which learners can participate. These include 2- and 3-Dimensional Art, Graphic Design, Digital Art, and Stage Costume Design. 

Learners with a passion for the written word can also showcase their talents by participating in our Creative Writing section. Eisteddfod at Alies is truly an all-encompassing arts experience like no other!
