Aliwal
North Primary School is a place where people are happy and learners encouraged
to discover new things so that they can satisfy their natural curiosity. We
have a management team consisting of a diligent principal, a loyal deputy
principal and two dynamic heads of department, leading a team of passionate and
creative educators.
Our
different phases from Grade 1 to Grade 7 consist of three classes each: two
Afrikaans classes and one English class. We all share a common goal and have a
responsibility towards each individual learner.
We strive to give each learner the necessary intellectual and emotional
support needed to help them develop their full potential. We strive towards reaching high levels of academic
achievement, but also want to develop skills, values and morally imputability
to help them cope with high school and life in general.
In the
Foundation Phase the foundation of learning is laid in a fun and integrated
way. Emphasis is put on skill development, to enable them to understand and
apply basic concepts. Learners are reminded frequently to treat educators and
friends with respect. We implement a
holistic approach to develop the learner’s humanity.
In the
Intersen Phase we expose to new developmental opportunities of which the
foundation was done in the Foundation Phase to enable them to acquire new
knowledge . They must now be exposed to
new ways of thinking and also learn different techniques on how to learn. We
encourage learners to be inquisitive about many things in life and assist them
in finding the answers themselves. We
try to prepare our young learners for their high school career.
