From our principal’s pen….

It is a big honour to welcome you to Alie-land!

Aliwal North Primary School is a multi-cultural, mixed school that provides in the needs of both English and Afrikaans learners from all over the North Eastern Cape.  This leading school has 560 learners, ranging from Grade R to Grade 7.

It is a value-driven school where we focus on teaching the following values: care, honesty, responsibility, respect, consideration, fairness, friendliness and citizenship.  We strive to educate the total child; we therefore try to take care of all levels involving the child: spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, physical and cultural.

Academics form the core of our school day and I am proud to say that in this school every pupil is encouraged to reach their full potential. Excellent results are achieved. Sport and cultural activities do not fall far behind:  rugby, netball, hockey, tennis, athletics and cricket are very popular. Cultural activities include chess, land service and an orator’s club.  Eistedd@Alies is one of the highlights on the cultural calendar for many of our surrounding schools.

Bollie Konyn forms our satellite campus with our Grade R classes. Here the foundation is laid for the future Grade 1-7 years at our magnificent buildings and sport facilities in Benson Street.

Parental involvement is very important for the Alie family. The Supporter’s Club and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) do not function individually, but stand under the jurisdiction of the Governing Body.  This means that all activities take place in partnership with the school, according to the advantage of the school and its learners.
