CURRICULUM

We adhere strictly to the Caps curriculum in the Intermediate and Senior Phases, as prescribed by the Department of Basic Education.  We focus on the different subjects from Grade 4 to 7, with well-qualified and passionate teachers teaching specific subjects.  The teaching staff stays informed of changes brought about by the Department from time to time. We make the necessary changes to ensure quality education for every learner in Aliwal North Primary School.

The Aliwal North Primary School is a happy place where children are encouraged to explore, discover and share their natural passion for learning new things. Our team is headed up by a dedicated principal and three dynamic phase heads, and is completed with a passionate and creative team of teachers. It includes Grades 1 to 7, with three classes in each grade, two Afrikaans and one English class. We all share a common goal and that is our responsibility to each and every individual pupil in our school. We strive to give the children the intellectual and emotional nourishment that will help them to reach their full potential. We aim to achieve high levels of academic knowledge, but also to develop skills and attitudes, values and accountability that will enable them to successfully face the challenges of high school and life in general.

In the Foundation Phase the emphasis is to lay foundations for learning in a “Fun Filled” and integrated manner and to encourage respect and resilience. We have a holistic approach to all learning involved at our school.
